Based on local data, The Commission has determined the following key issues to be addressed:

Lycoming County

ATOD Prevention

Reduce adult drug possession rates in Lycoming County.

Reduce youth alcohol usage 30 day and lifetime in Lycoming County.

Clinton County

ATOD Prevention

Reduce DUI arrests and alcohol related crashes in Clinton County.

Reduce youth 30 day vaping/e-cigarette usage in Clinton County.

 

Prevention Programs

Too Good for Drugs

The Commission provides the evidence-based Too Good for Drugs program in several schools in Clinton and Lycoming Counties. The program is provided in 10 lessons that are typically 45 minutes in length. Students are taught life skills such as goal setting, managing emotions, communication, and peer pressure strategies, alongside drug prevention education. These lessons are interactive, including role playing, games, and a workbook.

Strengthening Families Program 10-14

The Commission provides the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program 10-14 in the fall and spring in Clinton and Lycoming Counties. Help your family learn to manage emotions, set goals, avoid peer pressure, make better decisions, and strengthen relationships. This program helps reduce behavior problems and prevents teen substance use. The program is for youth ages 1014 and their families. It is delivered in 7 weeks, and provides families with dinner and childcare for younger siblings.

Student Assistance Program

The Commission serves as the Drug & Alcohol liaison for all schools in Clinton and Lycoming Counties. The Student Assistance Program is designed to assist in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues which pose barrier to a student’s success. The primary goal of the Student Assistant Program is to help students overcome these barriers, so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school.
